Rider Exercises
What simple exercise can be used for both the beginner and the advanced
rider that can be both a help to find a way to learn a new skill, or
improve existing skills, and also be used as a test to ensure that the
rider is able to: - ride independently of the seat and hands, -work off the weight of the reins and -not balance using their reins? This exercise can do this and so much more. An exercise that any instructor or rider can use! An excellent exercise for every beginner that has just begun to learn to trot, and an old favorite of many instructors. But it is so much more. More than just for the beginner. This exercise will work with any rider at any level to help them in each of these areas. The exercise is simple and easy to do. Surprisingly simple. We begin with the trot. The rider must have enough balance at the trot that they will not be in danger if they stop holding tight onto the reins. Once you have that assurance, you can move on to the exercise. What is very special about this exercise is that for such a simple exercise it actually addresses multiple issues simultaneously. The first is a common perception, both conscious and subsconcious, of many riders: it is through the reins that the rider consistently and even constantly controls the speed of the horse. Many, many riders hold this belief. An idea that can hinder your riding.
