Regarding your very
interesting article on breathing and the position of the horse's head,
I would like to say that although I have not done this test you are
asking, I do have some information to share that I think will be of
interest.
I am working a 7 year old Oldenberg for 2 years now. When he
first came to me I was very concerned about his breathing. No one
else seemed to be but me. He would gulp a lot, actually had
hiccups on one occasion, and had this rhythmical snorting noise during
canter work. To me this was not right. I tried all sorts of
things to make this situation better and it did improve in that the
canter to the left was starting to sound quieter. The horse had
been ridden very deep and with a flash noseband before I worked with
him. He had a variety of other problems as well, including a
metabolic disorder.
What I noticed as time went by was that the more collected the horse became, the less on the forehand he was,
