Equine stereotypies such as weaving, Crib-biting and box - walking are
frequently described as "stable vices" and veterinary interest has
generally focussed on the deleterious effects that may be associated
with their performance. Many owners and veterinarians have pursued
strategies to prevent the performance of stereotypies that include the
use of physically restrictive devices, electric shock, and surgery [1].
These methods are, in many cases, ineffective [2], they may cause
distress or harm to the horse, and they address symptoms rather than
underlying causation.
During the 16th and 17th Centuries, the Church played an important role
in the breeding of the early Cleveland Bay. Stout packhorses were
needed to transport trade goods within the Monastic communities. From
an early blending of agricultural and pack types that may have included
the Galloway of Scotland, a horse type emerged and became known as the
Chapman Horse. 
The All-Important Back of the Foot The rear of the hoof is

For me, as
I explain to my students, having one’s fingers completely closed beforehand (no
pun intended, but yes, I am pleased by the wit) amounts to going hunting while
