Examing and Looking at the Eye of the Horse

The head in position, a pretty picture of a curved neck the horse's head on the vertical. A picture of beauty that so many try to emulate. What are we forgetting to see?

The worried eye. A common sight. An eye that is furrowed like the eye of a hound dog.

The horse gleaming in the sunlight. Braids perfectly done. The ears perfectly cleaned out. A perfect presentation.

But then we take a closer look. Or at least we probably should. Amazing how much we can miss when we look just at gleaming coat, the perfect braids, the white gloves.

What emotion is this horse expressing? Some might say a look that is of beyond hope.

Interestingly if you look at any horse working ahead of the vertical or playing in the field, the horse doesn't truly have facial expressions.

At least not expressions that are so definitive or as clear as this. There is no need for a horse to have an expressive face. This is not how one horse communicates with another.
