Albert Eugene Edouard Decarpentry
ith "..the creation of the FEI, which took place in 1921, initiated by General DeCarpentry with the assistance of Dr. Rau and the German General Halsing Bersett.
"General DeCarpentry wrote the FEI rules and definitions in French as we see them today in the FEI rulebook using the sophisticated French Dressage vocabulary with its infinite nuances and meanings." Dr. Max Gahwyler
Who is this man whose influence involved the creation of the Federation Equestre Internationale? What were his influences? His dreams? His hopes? And even his disappointments with the success of the FEI.

General Decarpentry was born in 1878 at Lambres near Douai.
eneral Decarpentry (1878-1956) was born to a family of horsemen, with his father and grandfather having been students of Baucher, and his great uncle the Tsar's chief riding master and proclaimed by Fillis to be his model. Decarpentry is perhaps the best known of France's classical horsemen of modern times.
He had the distinction of serving in the Cadre Noir from 1904 to 1913, and later served as second-in-command from 1925 to 1931 after having been in command of the Calvary Section at the St. Cyr for two years. In total he spent fourteen years in the Cadre of the cavalry school, eight of those as Ecuyer (Riding Master).
