| Since Gueriniere first wrote his text, horsemen have agreed to disagree whether Gueriniere meant for the shoulder in to actually be three track or four track. Difficulties arise as "some" of the text and pictures do not agree. We do know that Gueriniere created the shoulder-in as a suppling exercise for the shoulders; the engagement of the inside hind was considered a bonus. This suppling can only be achieved if the horse begins to take more weight on the hind end to allow the front end more mobility.
There are many masters that I admire that seem to prefer the three track and there are many masters that I admire that prefer the four track. Looking for a common thread,
