Practice with a Friend First
Before you do SENSE work with your horse, I strongly suggest that you work with a human partner so you can fine-tune your touch and pressure based on your friend's feedback.
Stand facing your human partner’s left shoulder. You will be perpendicular to each other. Putting a hand on your partner’s left shoulder, rock her a little side-to-side. Put your hand down.
How did this feel for your partner? Did she resist the movement? How did it feel for you? Now let’s do it again, but this time we’ll walk through the steps together.
Stand as before. Let your hand settle gently on your partner’s left shoulder, “melting” to conform to her exact shape. Wait a moment. Take a breath and let your hand soften still more.
