Working Equitation Working equitation is a new and exciting equestrian sport which has been gaining popularity in many countries since its inception as a competition in 1996. It comprises both flatwork elements and obstacles such as may be found during mounted work in the fields, putting to the test both the versatility and functionality of the horse and the horsemanship skills of the rider. It is a thrilling spectator sport which has gained an enthusiastic following in the countries where it is practised, such as Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Italy and France.
