Training the Rein Through the Lead Rope

Our training with the lead rope is one of the most important links that we develop with the way we handle the lead rope and the response that we train for, providing a direct link from the reaction of the horse to the lead rope to the beginnings of training for the horse knowing how to respond to the reins.

The lessons of the rein that can be taught through the lead rope including these distinct rein effects:

Passive Yielding

Passive Fixed

Active/Pulling

Weight of the Reins

In this second of a three-part series on Wynmalen and Training to the Hand, we will discover how working with the lead rope can begin the task of teaching the horse to work through the weight of the reins alone.
