The Spanish Riding School is the guardian of the “Haute Ecole of Equitation”. The term “Haute Ecole of Equitation,” in the classical sense, means the ability of the horse to execute the most difficult exercises in perfect balance. This ability is achieved largely by gymnastic training of the entire muscular system of the horse. It finds its expression in the perfect harmony of seemingly effortless, but exceedingly difficult movements.
Starting from the basic principles mentioned in the “Directives on the Methodical Training of Rider and Horse in the Spanish Riding School that one sidedness and mechanical routine lower deserts his stick standard there are no hard and fast rules regulating training details.
