The article about bitless bridles using Dr Cook's x ray has been published in BD magazine under the heading, "Are we causing unnecessary pain? (I was sent a note by a reader suggesting that the heading was the editor's - I am not sure that I like it too much as there is the implication that it is OK to cause "necessary pain"!

I responded that I had to say that, that was very observant of you re the title. And the more I think about it, the more I think you are probably right. Where is a person’s mindset when we choose the words unnecessary pain versus just pain? Have we as horse people just come to accept that pain is a part of riding and our right?

Have we at some level just come to accept that it is our sovereign right to cause the horse pain?
