"Just because someone has something useful to teach
doesn't mean that I am able to learn it.
So what I am wondering now is, what do I do when people say things that don't make sense? Do I ignore it? Question it?" This month it is a true joy to be able to share the incredible work of Nuno Oliveira. Especially since it was the inspiration of his work that was one of the driving forces behind the concept of Horses For LIFE. Or was it frustration? As a riding teacher, education is key. And there can be no education without educational material. Unknown to many, there was an underground. An underground that for many years that I knew nothing about. When I found out about it, I truly didn't understand. I don't think I understand truly yet, even today, why it was that this material was being held back from a hungry, eager, deserving equestrian public. Then the more I thought about those videos and English versions of texts that were not available to the general public, I actually got mad. It just wasn't right! It didn't seem right that educational material about this incredible equestrian, considered by many as the Master of the last century, should be in the hands of a select few. Why wasn't this material readily available to the endless hungry equestrians who were eager, desperate to learn? Yes, I got to see it, but that just wasn't enough. As more material came into my hands, the more my frustration grew. Knowledge such as this belongs to the world. It should be available to anyone who has the desire to learn, the aching need to learn more, so that they could do better for their horses.
