Last month Bea shared with us that if she has a horse that she doesn’t have a connection to, how somehow she can find that connection by talking to the horse. How in the process when we talk we change what we are doing, and the horses can feel, by our reaction, by our way of handling them, that change happening. Because our handling of them needs to come from our souls.

Part 2

[HFL]: Exactly. I completely agree with that. Out of twenty five school horses at any one time - the students would always ask me “which one is your favorite?” And I can honestly say to them that it’s whichever horse I’m working with at the time. I honestly felt that - you are my favorite because I’m working with you. And they know. They do know. So I do understand what you’re saying, definitely.

[Bea]: So one of my messages in the clinic is “use food in order to praise the horse” and “use your voice in order to create a very good atmosphere”. And yeah, there are some teachers who agree (I would say 55% of the teacher) who agree to use food to motivate a horse, much more than without food.

[HFL]: Food can be a big motivator. I know some people feel sometimes they shouldn’t use food though, because they think the horse loves the food more than they love them and they want the horse to listen to them, not listen for the food.
