A New Type of Leader

NOVEMBER 2005 • VOLUME 3 • HORSES For LIFE™ Magazine

Are you looking for the answers??

I was and I couldn't see they were right there. As always right there in front of me. In the horse, in front of me. He had all the answers. Sometimes answers to questions that have not yet been asked.

From clicker training to natural horsemanship, we see riders, trainers, instructors learning finding new ways to interact with our horses. It seems to me that this is just the beginning of the journey, that we still have more layers and more discovery's yet to make. On the possible depths of interaction we can have with our horses. At least that is what the horses seem to be saying... Read on to read about how the confusion of one horse, asks and answers new questions from the perspective of the horse.

A New Type of Leader

e all have a choice to make. When we decide that we want to be the leader. We often hear the words of how we must take the roll of the leader, of how we must be the dominant one. But we have a choice that we have to make. A very important one. We can choose what kind of leader we will be. One route seems easier, one route seems to be very popular. But we sometimes forget that there are two ends to the horse. The head where we can lead and the back end that we can chase.
